Gloomy Days. Cozy Tea

Clouds. Fog. Wind.

It’s days like these that really make me love northern California. I know, I know…what? But honestly, it’s when the fog is in and hides the sun rays and the wind kicks up that I can truly appreciate when it’s sunny and warm. After all, a cup of something warm is just better when there’s a chill in the air. That being said, I’ve whipped up this warm, citrusy-sweet tea that does just the trick when the weather dips below the preferred 65 degrees… or for just enjoying with a book on a rainy Saturday.

For this little cup of sunshine, just a few ingredients are needed: 2 oranges, a tablespoon of honey, a cinnamon stick, and a kettle of boiling water. Slice the oranges in half and squeeze the juice into your cup of choice. You may choose to strain the pulp but I kinda like a little in mine (fiber!) Add the hot water to fill the rest of the cup, drop in the honey and cinnamon stick and sit back in your comfy chair. You may need to just go ahead and make a pot of this.

Hey Hey! So I want to talk about something near and dear to my heart stomach.  FOOD. I love food. Re-phrase: I love good food. Food that makes me feel good and food that makes me happy. Don’t we all! So lately I have been cooking A LOT. We’re talking pretty much double what I was... Continue reading

So today I decided to make this delicious, creamy pasta for lunch. Is it healthy?…not really (but it DOES have peas in it) Is it tasty?..oh yeah! It’s kind of like being on a rainbow while dropping spoonfuls of creamy, cheesy clouds into your mouth. The fresh sweet peas really make this dish stand out... Continue reading

We are all familiar with mayo. We know it’s unhealthy and grocery store brands are packed with some pretty gross ingredients including corn syrup and hydrogenated oils. In fact, homemade mayo only contains a few ingredients so why add all those nasty things? Oh wait, shelf life. We need products to last for 8 years... Continue reading

To all my plant-lovers out there! Lately I’ve been a little obsessed with plants. If it has leaves and it’s green, chances are I want it in my house. Since moving to a much sunnier place I have been trying to bring in more plants because I really love them and I love the way... Continue reading

better wreath

This year I had a major problem. I really wanted to make my own Christmas wreath with real tree clippings but I literally have a box of artificial wreaths in my closet. I don’t like to waste things. After getting our tree this year, I asked if I could take some clippings from the pile... Continue reading

It’s Faaaaahhl. I’m not gonna lie, I’m very transparent about my love for Fall. I don’t mess around. Pumpkins, leaves, apples and spice-I need it all. Holidays in general are just very nostalgic for me and therefore I cling to traditions like nobody’s business. As I surveyed my box full of Autumn decor I thought about... Continue reading

I have been looking forward to Thanksgiving week because I love cooking and baking holiday foods. This year, we have three different Thanksgiving meals to go to (not all in the same day thankfully). It’s awesome because I get to make so many different things to bring. Plus, who wouldn’t want to re-live a Thanksgiving... Continue reading

I don’t know about you but there comes a certain time every day that I just really need a snack. I actually schedule in snacks throughout the day to keep me from overeating at meals. I welcome snacking into my health routine so long as my snacks don’t contain sugar or anything processed. So here... Continue reading

It’s a happy day whenever I make homemade granola. For one, homemade granola is delicious and easy! It’s also great knowing exactly what is and isn’t in your food. Making granola also makes your house smell like grandmas (and who doesn’t love that!). This granola is very versatile and you can pretty much put anything... Continue reading

Fishtail. Rope. Milkmaid; these are just a few different types of braids that I love. So pretty, so simple, and so easy to dress up (or down). Now that it’s summertime, braids are going to be my best friend. Ok, so maybe I was already best friends with them in the first place! What can... Continue reading

facemask

Green monster alert! It’s just natural to act reptilian when wearing a green face mask, right? But this mask won’t leave your skin feeling lizardly, thank goodness. Once a week I try to give myself an “at home spa day” or at least that’s what I call it whenever I do a facial. A bubble... Continue reading
